The Beverly Hillbillies is a tv situation comedy about the Clampetts, a poor family from the Ozarks mountains, who suddenly found themselves very rich when widowed head of the family Jed Calmpett (Bubby Ebsen) accidentally discovered oil in his worthless property. Having found themselves $25 million dollar richer, Jed together with daughter Elly May (Donna Couglas), musclebound nephew Jethro Bodine (Max Baer Jr.) and his fiesty mother-in-law Granny Daisy Moses (Irene Ryan) moves to the place of the rich and famous, Beverly Hills, with the help of cousin Pearl (Bea Banaderet). Even with their new luxurious living, the Clampetts remained in their own simple, unpretentious manner often proving themselves more sophisticated and honorable than most.

The Beverly Hillbillies ran on CBS from 1962 to 1971 for over 200 episodes. The series became the top-rated tv show in its premier season and remained consistently in the top 10 for its 9-year tenure. It is considered as one of the most popular and most succesful network tv series of all time.
